Hello all!

Well if you haven’t already noticed…we’ve made our microsite for the Sound Blaster World of Warcraft headsets online along with a product demo that details pretty  much every last detail of the product.

If you haven’t gone there yet..check it out now!

I’ll be posting more info here and answering any questions that I can give info on from here or on the web!

See you back here soon!

  1. Hey,

    Me again.

Any updates on any EU competition or even release date. Was originally hoping to get it as a christmas gift to myself for christmas but obviously that’s out of the picture.

Still, it looks so darn good I can’t wait!

  2. How are you going to solve the problem if the headset is about to die during mid-raid (The wireless headset, of course)

By the way, the time I’ve been waiting is totally worth it. This headset is amazing.

    • Hey Roy,

The headset can be recharged while in use. Being a gamer myself…I can’t tell you how many “extended raids” I’ve battled through (although my wife can name every one of them I’m guessing). So I know how it is. With the headset we’ve kept this in mind and you can charge the headset while it’s being used. You just take the (braided cloth) USB cable and plug it into the headsets charging port and you’re good to go. You’ll be “wired” down for a while while the headset charges..but you also don’t have to go back to normal sound because (if you’re like me) you ported back to Dalaran and went straight to bed after the raid (without charging your headset first..haha).

  3. It looks alot better than the proto type! The mic on this unit, is it able bend into different positions? Also does the wired version have inline push to talk?

  4. Hey Ryan,

Thanks for the update man… as you can imagine we are eagerly awaiting this release. Can you give us some sort of release date for it? Ball park at least?\

    Thanks!

    • Hey SwiftKillz, the wait is almost over.

  5. How would two of the wireless headsets work in the same room / house? Would they pick up the wireless signal of the other or can they be set to a different channel?

    • The tech we’re using for the Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Wireless Headsets can handle multiple headsets in the same room. Each headset pairs with it’s own wireless dongle and is keyed to that dongle to communicate exclusively with it. Once paired your headset will automatically pair with the dongle you paired it to from that point on. However, if you chose to…you could repair your headset to another wireless dongle if needed.

  6. Wondering.
On soundblaster website there are different links for WoW headset

    http://www.soundblaster.com/worldofwarcraft/demo/welcome.aspx

    and

    http://www.soundblaster.com/worldofwarcraft/welcome.aspx

    Which is the right one?

    And any news on release?

    -Thomas

    • The first link is the correct one. (Although the second one is essentially the same link…not sure what’s going on there but I’ll have the web team look into it =))

And on the release….you won’t be waiting much longer.

  7. When are these coming out? I’ve been following this since Sept. 09, but sadly not in my stocking for Christmas. I saw the website.. that is nice.. but I need more than a virtual headset!!

    • Hey Mike,

Believe me I understand where you’re coming from. We’ve been fine tuning the headset over the past few months to make sure it lives up to the expectations of the fans (as well as ours and Blizzards). We’re very close now…very very close. More coming very soon.

Glad you liked the site. The goal was to show the updates and give people more info on the tech and features of the headset. This is one of those rare products that actually looks better in person (as if it doesn’t look great in photos). You’ll see what I mean when you get yours.

  8. What are the requirements for the computer to do the real time voice change to e.g a female gnome?
I hear other systems like that have some latency unless you have some insane computer.

  9. What are the audio specs for the headset? (Freq. range, etc.)

Also, what will the CPU utilization be like for these? Does the USB dongle provide specialized hardware or is it all in software? If so, will the driver perform better in multi-core systems?

    • Great questions.

Here’s the specs for the headsets

      Wireless
      Driver Units: 40mm Neodymium Magnet
      Frequency Response: 20Hz ~ 20kHz
      Impedance: 32 ohms
      SPL (1kHz): 112dB
      Microphone
      Microphone Type: Noise-Canceling Condenser
      Frequency Response: 100Hz ~ 7kHz
      Impedance: 2.2kohms
      Sensitivity@ 1kHz: -48 dBV/Pa (Uni-directional)
      USB Wireless Transmitter
      Uncompressed 2.4GHz wireless technology
      Re-chargeable lithium polymer battery
      Continuous gaming playback per
      charge Up to 9 hours
      Charging Duration: 4 hours
      Wireless Band: 2.4GHz ISM

      Wired
      Driver Units: 40mm Neodymium Magnet
      Frequency Response: 20Hz ~ 20kHz
      Impedance: 32 ohms
      SPL (1kHz): 112dB
      Microphone
      Microphone Type: Noise-Canceling Condenser
      Frequency Response: 100Hz ~ 7kHz
      Impedance: 2.2kohms
      Sensitivity@ 1kHz: -48 dBV/Pa (Uni-directional)

We definitely take advantage of multi-core systems for performance. But the audio enhancement tech is streamlined to utilize very little of your CPU.
